MAGNIFICENT
REVOLUTIONARY WAR DATED SWORD,
American Revolutionary War long hanger made from a British Dragoon
blade dated to the French & Indian War. The long 32" blade is
from a British Dragoon sword with several engravings including a
British Crown and the date "1759. The blade was re-used in the
Rebolutionary War period by adding a very heavy iron guard and a solid
hardwood wooden handle. The sword is extremely well balanced with the
iron handle capable of withstanding heavy blows. When showed this
sword recently George Neumann, an authority on Colonial swords and
arms, stated that this was a real fighting man's sword due to the
heavy handle and guard. Any dated 18th century American sword is truly
rare. A rare combination of French & Indian War and Revolutionary
War usage.......................$3,500.00 SUPERB
ENGLISH OFFICER'S SWORD - REVOLUTIONARY WAR, English
Officer's Short Sword or Spadroon. An elaborate engraved blade with
English crests. Near mint brass counterguard with wrapped wire grips.
The ornate faceted pommel is quite decorative. This style was carried
early in the 18th century by Prussian troops and carried during the
Revolution by British and German officers. Neumann dates this style as
early as 1750 but this engraved one dates later to the Revolutionary
period (see Neumann 60.SS and 119.SS). The English engravings on the
blade are sharp and bold. All brass fixtures are bright and untouched
by any cleaning. A superb specimen. Blade is 32.5" in length. A
